Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the therapy process.

What happens in the first session?

In the first session we talk about what brings you here, your expectations and your background, and we consider together what kind of plan fits. No preparation is needed.

How long are sessions and how often?

Individual sessions usually last 50 minutes and are held weekly. Couple and family sessions may be a little longer. Frequency is agreed together based on your needs.

Are our sessions confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in sessions is kept confidential under professional ethics and the law. The legal exceptions to confidentiality are explained in the first session.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on the topic, your goals and your needs. Some processes take a few months, others longer. We review progress together regularly.

Is online therapy as effective as in person?

For many concerns online therapy can be similarly effective. It may not suit every situation, so we evaluate it together in the first session.

Should I bring my child to the first session?

The first session is usually held with the parents only, so we can talk freely about the child’s history and current situation. We then plan the next steps together.
